Kupo Range Fresh Produce, a key partner in Simbu Province's Market for Village Farmers [MVF] project, recently provided much-needed agricultural supplies worth K88,000 to farmers in the province.

The distribution event took place at the Kundiawa residence of lead partner Francisca Moiwo, who expressed pride in the project's significant impact on local farming communities.

Mrs. Moiwo highlighted that the MVF project has covered 70% of the costs for these supplies, helping farmers who struggle to afford materials due to rising prices.

"These materials are expensive today, but thanks to this project, you’re receiving essential support.

"Let’s make the most of this opportunity, as no one else will provide this level of assistance," she urged farmers.

Farmers and lead farmers from Kerowagi, Gembogl, Gumine, and Sinesine Yongomugl districts traveled to Kundiawa to collect the third batch of agricultural supplies.

Energized by the support, they expressed gratitude, as these materials are essential for their farming businesses.

Micks John, a Technical Officer for Bulb Onion at the Fresh Produce Development Agency, praised Moiwo for her commitment to the MVF project.

He emphasized the potential of agriculture as a lucrative career, particularly for young people.

"Farmers, your wealth is in the land," he said.

"With a single can of bulb onion seedlings, you could earn K150,000 in just four months—far more than many save in a lifetime."

One grateful farmer, Rita Mondia from Kerowagi, said that joining Kupo Range Fresh Produce has transformed her approach to farming.

“Before, I worried about buying supplies and finding a market. Now, as a registered member, I can focus fully on cultivating my land, with the project supporting the rest," Mondia said.

She added that her family’s life has become easier since joining.

Currently, Kupo Range Fresh Produce has a network of 132 farmers, including seven lead farmers and 125 farmers under their guidance.

This initiative is driving economic empowerment in rural Simbu Province, giving farmers not only materials but also the motivation and means to succeed.
