Ex Papua New Guinea Kumul and PNG Hunters premiership-winning halfback, Ase Boas has been tasked by KCK Rigo Rice Cup to administer the Moresby North East leg of the tournament.
The appointment was formalised by the KCK Rigo Rice Cup executive officer Mcsteve Polly as a step towards engaging elite players to boost the tournament.
The former Hunter has immense rugby league experience at domestic and international levels, having represented the Kumuls.
Polly said the inclusion of the Rabaul Gurias veteran was to also inspire the next crop of talents brewing in the Moresby North East electorate.
“We are glad that he will be sharing it with our younger generation of rugby league players in his pool of coordination throughout the tournament,” Polly said.
The inaugural Rigo Rice Cup set for November 9 launch, will be played in four different zones in the nation’s capital, with K300,000 total prize money in play.
The tournament officials have confirmed huge participation from teams within NCD as finals preparations are in sync for the launch next month.
The off-season rugby 13's competition is an initiative of Rigo Rice Limited and Kendekali Lawyers to give the opportunity to local players for exposure.
Digicel ExxonMobil Cup teams are encouraged to scout from this comp as Port Moresby’s unknown talents will be brought to the top stage for possible selection.
