MS-22 police barracks in Kopiago nears completion

Construction on the Mobile Squad 22 (MS 22) Police Barracks in Koroba is progressing, with commissioning scheduled for December. The project is being funded by the Koroba-Lake Kopiago District Development Authority (DDA) as part of its ongoing push to reinforce law and order in the district.

In response to the request, two vehicles have been officially handed over to the Koroba-Kopiago police to boost law and order operations in the district.

Koroba-Kopiago MP William Bando thanked Minister for Police Sir John Pundari and the Hela Provincial Government for their prompt response to his request.

"The MS 22 Police Barracks construction currently underway is solely funded by our DDA—we have received no aid from the Police Department. While other districts in the province have yet to build similar facilities, these two vehicles will directly complement our groundwork."

MP Bando revealed that the DDA spends approximately K400,000 every month consistently for the past four years solely on maintaining law and justice operations across the district.

MP Bando acknowledged Hela Governor Philip Undialu for allocating 10 police houses to the district under the Hela Police Housing Rollout Program.

"Law and order are our top priority because people can only respect and enjoy essential services when there is peace.

"Koroba-Lake Kopiago was once heavily impacted by lawlessness, but peace is returning because of the priority we have given to the law and justice sector." MP Bando said.
