Treasurer assists Madang school with K400,000 funding

Madang Governor Ramsey Pariwa has acknowledged Treasurer Ian Ling-Stuckey for providing K400,000 in financial assistance to Ambarina Primary School in the Ambenob local level government [LLG] area.

Governor Pariwa presented a dummy cheque on behalf of the Treasurer to school headmistress Loma Dau during a official ceremony on Friday.

The presentation was witnessed by provincial executive council education chairman Gary Kulonga, Ambenob LLG president Dum Bal, and provincial education director Alphonse Igag.

Pariwa explained that the funding fulfilled a pledge originally made by Ling-Stuckey, who is also the Member for Kavieng, when he backed the construction of the school's administration block in 2023.

The completed administration facility now houses a staff room, computer lab, and printing setup for the school.

Pariwa said that he persistently reminded the Treasurer to honor his original K100,000 commitment during annual provincial budget presentations in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

He said he challenged the Treasurer to add K100,000 for every year the pledge remained outstanding, eventually boosting the final payout to K400,000.

“We must have a strategy, don't become an ordinary leader,” Pariwa said. “We have to be smart and fight to get what we want for our people.”

Pariwa thanked Ling-Stuckey for his national leadership and ongoing support for Madang’s development, stating that Ambarina Primary School serves students across the Amron, Baitabag, Riwo, and Nagada communities.

Receiving the funds, Ms Dau commended the provincial leadership for prioritizing education, saying that Pariwa is only the second leader after former Madang Open MP, the late Paul Kamod, to deliver major infrastructure support to the school.

Ambenob LLG president Dum Bal also praised the governor’s focus on education, stating that investment in human capital is vital as suburban growth from nearby Madang town continues to put pressure on local resources.
