Hundreds of young Adventists from Papua New Guinea and Indonesia have teamed up for evangelism in Indonesia for the first time at the recent Arafura International Pathfinder Camporee in Merauke, Indonesia.

This historic event marks the beginning of a 5-year partnership between East Indonesian Union Conference and the PNG Union Mission (PNGUM) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church to strengthen evangelism along the PNG-Indonesian border.

According to the Youth Director for PNGUM Pastor Moses Melua, this partnership provides an unprecedented opportunity for Papua New Guinea Union Mission to mobilize young people for the mission of leading other young people to Christ. He highlighted that this Camporee lays the foundation for ‘Hope Indonesia Evangelism 2030’a national event similar to the recent ‘PNG for Christ’ held in 2024.

The camporee has revealed a strong support from the Indonesian Government through office of the Governor of South Papua Province.

Following the successful event, the 191 delegates from PNG returned to PNG with fond memories, new friendships, and an invitation to attend a similar event in 2028.
