Milne Bay signs national youth engagement initiative

Milne Bay is the 7th province to sign an agreement with the National Youth Development Authority under their youth engagement initiative to be piloted by the Alotau Urban and Huhu Local Level Government.

NYDA was in Alotau this week where they also consulted youth groups and stakeholders to come up with a draft PEC Submission for further policy directives to compliment the rollout of the National Youth Engagement Strategy in the province.

According to the National Youth Development Authority, a little over 28,000 Grade 12 students are let go from formal education each year while its higher at around 33,000 for Grade 10s.

He says it’s a time bomb and the time is now to address this.

NYDA signed on two agreement documents with Milne Bay including the joint action plan with the Milne Bay Provincial Administration and the LLG engagement framework for Alotau Urban LLG and Huhu LLG and handed over a draft PEC submission to go before the Milne Bay Provincial Executive Council for further policy directives to compliment the National Youth Engagement Strategy and it’s rollout in the province.
