Former Prime Minister Peter O'Neill says everything falls and rises on the type of leadership in a country.

In a recent media conference, Mr O'Neill said, the recent investment by the PNG Defense Force into the National Banking Corporation is one example.

Mr O'Neill says the PNG Defence Force needs better uniforms, guns, and improvements in its facilities.

The former prime minister says everything falls and rises on the type of leadership in a country.

Recently, Mr O'Neil spoke highly of the K20 million investment by the PNG Defence Force.

He described this as outrageous and says this shows the type of leaders the country has.

Mr O'Neill believes there are many things this money should have been used for.

"Why is the Defence Force of our country investing K20 million in a bank? To achieve what?

"When your own Defence Force is running around begging for uniforms, begging for guns, can't keep up the barracks in the country, yet you have the money to go and invest in the bank?" Mr O'Neil questioned.

Adding to that, he called on the people to think about the coming election and called on the voting population to closely screen potential leaders before making the choice.

The former Prime Minister also raised concerns over the 60-plus billion debt the country has and urged the government to stop borrowing to fund the national budget.
