Madang United FC and Agmark FC Morobe Wawens complete match

The Madang United Football Club has extended its sincere appreciation to Agmark FC Morobe Wawens for accepting the invitation to travel to Madang and take part in a friendly match at Laiwaden Oval on Sunday.

Chairman of the Madang Provincial Events Committee [MPEC], Siegfried Beschel, who also serves as the interim board representative for Madang United FC, acknowledged the visiting team’s effort and commitment to the game.

Before kickoff, Beschel presented K1,000 to Wawens representative, Bob Morris on behalf of Madang Governor, Ramsey Pariwa, the patron of Madang United FC, along with the Madang Provincial Events Committee and the club. The cash presentation was made as a token of appreciation for the team’s participation.

He emphasized that the match was more than just a game.

 “This is not just a friendly match, but a sign of unity between our two provinces in promoting soccer in the Momase region. Thank you for coming, this shows true sportsmanship and unity,” he said.

In receiving the presentation, Morris expressed gratitude to Governor Ramsey Pariwa, Madang United FC, and the Madang Provincial Events Committee for organizing the match.

He said the friendly encounter provided an opportunity for both teams to assess their performance and prepare for upcoming competitions, including the Papua New Guinea National Soccer League (NSL).

 “The purpose of this match is to see where we stand as teams, make improvements, and continue to promote unity and sportsmanship through football,” he said.

Morris also acknowledged major sponsor Agmark for its continued support, as well as the players for making the trip to Madang.

The day featured two matches at Laiwaden Oval. In the first game, Madang United FC defeated the Agmark FC Morobe Wawens Development Team 2–1.

The main match in the afternoon saw a thrilling contest between Madang United FC and the Agmark FC Morobe Wawens senior squad, ending in a 2–2 draw.

Wawens took an early lead in the first half, but Madang United came back strongly in the second half with two goals to lead.

However, a late set-piece opportunity allowed the Wawens to equalize and secure the draw.

The successful event highlighted not only competitive football but also the growing spirit of unity and collaboration in the Momase region through sport.
