Lume Polume is NICTA CEO
Lume Polume has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Information and Communications Technology Authority [NICTA] for a period of four years, starting from January 28, 2026.
The appointment was confirmed by Acting Information and Communications Technology Minister Peter Tsiamalili Jr.
Mr Polume takes up the role after serving as acting CEO for the past three months, where he showed strong leadership and commitment to improving the organisation. He replaces former CEO Kila Gulo Vui, who has completed his term.
Mr Polume holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Queensland and First Class Honours in Economics from the University of Papua New Guinea. He also has a Diploma in Economic Policy.
He has more than 20 years of experience and has worked in senior roles at the Independent Consumer and Competition Commission and Telikom PNG, focusing on telecommunications policy and regulation.
In a separate appointment, Charlie Gilichibi has been named as a Non-Executive Director of the NICTA Board for four years. He replaces John Cholai, who has completed his term.
NICTA Board Chairman Brian Riches welcomed both appointments and said he looks forward to working with them to strengthen the organisation and improve services in the ICT sector.
