Vehicle checks will start in Tari town to remove unsafe vehicles from the road.

Motor Vehicle Insurance Limited [MVIL] Tari Branch, working with the Tari Police Traffic Division, launched the operation on Wednesday to improve road safety in Hela Province.

MVIL Tari Branch Manager Jobbie Toliman said this is the first time the branch has led such an operation. He said police have been allowed to set up roadblocks at key points around Tari town.

The operation will target vehicles with problems like faulty brakes, broken lights, no registration, and expired safety stickers.

Mr Toliman thanked the police for their support, saying the checks will help reduce traffic offences and keep drivers and passengers safe.

He also reminded vehicle owners that MVIL provides Compulsory Third Party [CTP] insurance, which covers injuries to passengers and other road users.
