Cyclone Narelle intensifies

Heavy rains and flooding is expected in parts of Papua New Guinea as Cyclone Narelle intensifies.

The National Weather Office has issued strong wind and flood warnings and says people must take precautions.

According to the National Weather Office Cyclone Narelle is slowly building towards the southern part of Papua New Guinea.

The Weather Office says while the winds will pass through to north of Australia, it may reach Category 3.  The Forecaster has issued strong winds, heavy rain and flood warnings.

Cyclone Narelle is expected to hit Australia on category 5.

The National Weather Office says it will pass through Papua New Guinea on category 3.

The National Weather Office is warning people in Milne Bay, Port Moresby, Central, Gulf and Western Province to embrace and adhere to warnings.

According to Mr Malai a similar cyclone was experienced in 2023 and before 2020.
