Bulolo DDA invests in youth and spiritual growth
The Bulolo District Development Authority [DDA] is continuing its commitment to community well-being by delivering a new set of musical instruments to the Mapos 1 community in Buang.
The full set of instruments, valued at K30,000, was officially handed over yesterday as part of an ongoing district-wide initiative to support religious congregations and youth engagement.
The ELC Mapos Parish Pastor, Francis Allan, commended local MP Sam Basil Jnr for his dedication to completing projects initiated by his predecessor.
"We appreciate you for considering our request and delivering these instruments to our youths," Pastor Allan said.
He further urged the young people of Mapos to take ownership of the equipment and ensure it is well-maintained for future use.
MP Sam Basil Jnr emphasized that the program is inclusive of all denominations, not just mainline churches. He said while the goal is to provide full sets to those in need, the DDA also provides partial support to congregations that already have existing equipment.
"The instrument distribution is for all denominations," Basil said. "Due to financial constraints, we support part instruments to those who have existing gear and full sets to those who do not have any."
According to Bulolo CEO Joseph O’Brian Paru, the initiative has seen significant reach since it began under the former MP late Sam Basil. Paru said over 40% of the Bulolo District has already benefited from the program. Similar distributions are slated for other congregations in Buang, Mumeng, Watut, and Bulolo Urban.
The DDA is adamant that fostering spiritual growth is a vital component of the district’s broader strategy for social and mental well-being.
