SSY DDA presents K700,000 for Emau Nili Bridge
The Sinesine Yongomulg District Development Authority (SSY DDA) in Chimbu has partnered with the Coffee Industry Corporation’s PNG Agriculture Commercialization & Diversification Project (CIC-PACD) in Goroka by presenting K700,000 toward construction of the Emau Nili Bridge.
The funding links Tabare and Suai Local Level Governments (LLGs) via the ongoing Gera Mawa Road Upgrade, which now reaches Dinga and beyond.
Chief Executive Officer, Atte Kerenga Kapa said the upgrade will enable a productive model to deliver rural infrastructure, boost agricultural productivity, and will improve market access for farmers in Suai LLG.
"This collaboration involves co-funding, technical support, and joint planning to revitalize coffee and other agricultural sectors, with a major focus on road rehabilitation and bridge connectivity," Kapa said.
Senior Project Manager for CIC-PACD, Potaisa Hombunaka commended the initiative, noting that most CIC-funded projects nationwide have never seen DDA investment.
"SSY is the first district to partner with CIC-PACD toward project completion," he said.
Hombunaka described CIC-PACD as a World Bank-funded program and called this partnership a milestone that will enhance access, opportunity, and development across the district and surrounding areas.
He thanked the district authority, under the chairmanship of MP Kerenga Kua, for the K700,000 bridge funding and pledged a future visit if additional funds become available for SSY projects.
"Heartfelt appreciation goes to the Member for Sinesine Yongomulg, Kerenga Kua, for his unwavering commitment to vital infrastructure. Together, we are building roads that unite communities and fuel progress across SSY," Kapa said.
