The Madang Provincial Government has delivered over K1.2 million financial assistance promised to Gaubin Rural Hospital in Sumkar District, during Prime James Marape's visit to the Karkar Island in January.

Madang governor Ramsey Pariwa had presented a dummy cheque to Sumkar MP, Alex Orme Suguman, during the PM's visit.

He returned to Karkar last Saturday and personally delivered the cheque to honour Madang provincial government's commitment.

He also presented K20,000 to Mapor Sub-health centre, K50,000 to Karkar Community College, and K20,000 to Bakul LLG Chamber.

Pariwa also delivered 22 boxes of medicine supplies worth K40,000, which will be distributed to selected aid posts and Gaubin Rural Hospital.

Governor Pariwa and his delegation included Deputy Governor and Chairman of Health and HIV in the Provincial Executive Council, Kui Udag, Chief Executive Officer of the Madang Provincial Health Authority (PHA), Dr. Martin Daimen and his executive officer, Dr Murphy Ambuk, were warmly welcomed at Mapor by the host LLG President of North Karkar, Mugiar Yass.

Yass acknowledged Governor Pariwa with warmth and remarked that during his visit to Mapor and other venues in North Karkar LLG in November 2024, he had made a number of commitments.

“During your visit, you also challenged and encouraged us to be self-reliant in order to sustain our socio- economic livelihood instead of waiting for free handouts from the government,” Yass said.

“I am so happy to see you, my son, and Governor for Madang to return to honour your commitments. This is a fine example of a true leader."

Pariwa in his opening address acknowledged the two newly elected LLG presidents of North Karkar and South Karkar, who were elected into office during the jubilee year, stating that these two new presidents came at the time of reset for Madang Province.

The governor told the people who gathered that his working relations with the Member for Sumkar, Alex Suguman Orme, is intact and he is also working in partnership with all the stakeholders, and a classic example is having the CEO of Madang PHA, Dr. Daimen, as part of his delegation to Mapor.

Governor Pariwa emphasized that Karkar Island and Madang are a small place when everyone hold hands and work together in partnership to achieve something.

“I am urging all stakeholders, district MPs, and LLG presidents that they must hold hands and work together," Governor Pariwa said.

“It is the year of the jubilee, and I have faith and conviction that God will restore Madang."

He said that restoration and 'taking back Madang' has commenced slowly, firstly with political leadership and slowly moving on to the administration with the recent permanent appointment of Provincial Administrator, Daniel Aloi.

“When political leadership and administration is restored, then God will restore service delivery mechanisms," Pariwa said.

“We will then restore each sector, we will restore Madang in education sector, health sector, law and order sector and infrastructure and so on."

The governor has also made a commitment with God through partnership with the churches to restore Madang.

Pariwa explained to the people who gathered at Mapor that he has been travelling to most of the remote parts of Madang Province to find out how his people are doing and getting along in life.

“I am going out to the remote parts of the province to see if there is any serious, urgent or immediate problem to solve then I will use my utmost discretion as a leader to make commitment to fix it," he said.

“If schools need maintenance then we fix it, aid posts then we fix it, just like what I’ve done in assisting Mapor Sub-health Centre which I had made a commitment during the time of administration impasse in 2024.

“There are many places to go, see, and assist. However, funding is not sufficient, but God will help us in this 50 years on."
