Middle Fly District will shift its treasury operations from Kiunga to Nomad as accounts for 2026 opens. This was revealed by Middle Fly District Administrator Petrus Malongim.

Led by provincial finance manager Lewa Kolomba and Kewo Kapala, recently visited Nomad to inspect the new treasury office and provide recommendations on setting it up.

Malongim said the team accompanied by the provincial and district support advisor from Department of National Finance Mary Kaule and two treasury staff, assessed the facility and advised on alterations, including partitioning the machine room and relocating the cash office counter.

"Work is already underway to implement these changes," he said.

With equipment being transferred from Kiunga, a technical team from Port Moresby is set to arrive soon to install the necessary equipment.

The office was officially launched last year by the Governor for Western Province Taboi Awi Yoto and witnessed by local MP Maso Hewabi and the Provincial Administrator during the hand over take over ceremony for the new District Administrator.

The shift is expected to improve services and opportunities for locals and strengthening Middle Fly's position as a growing district in Western Province.
