Students, parents and the Board of Management of Malabita Primary School in the Baubake constituency of Buin have received a newly built and refurbished double classroom that will greatly benefit them as the new year begins.
The presentation was made yesterday, Monday 10 February 2026, marking an important boost for the school as classes resume for the 2026 academic year.

Malabita primary school is one of the oldest schools in the Buin district and has produced many notable former students who now serve in various government and private sector organizations across Papua New Guinea.
The school is among several institutions in South Bougainville benefiting from ongoing support in both the education and health sectors.
A newly built level one aid post in the area is also expected to be commissioned soon, further improving essential services for the local community.
Present at the opening and to officiate the handover were DDA Churches Representative Pastor Moses Nouno, South Bougainville MP’s second secretary, John Itanu, South Bougainville technical officer, Steven Napiro, along with local chiefs, elders, teachers and students.
The new classroom facility comes as a timely support for the school community at the start of the new school year, reinforcing the district’s continued investment in education infrastructure.
