Kimbe Hausik Friends donates life-saving CTG machine to provincial hospital
The maternity ward at Kimbe Provincial Hospital has received a new cardiotocography [CTG] machine, critical tool for monitoring the heart rates of unborn babies.
The equipment was donated by Kimbe Hausik Friends [KHF], a charity organization known for its consistent efforts to improve healthcare accessibility in West New Britain.
Despite consisting of only 10 women, the KHF fundraising drive successfully raised K15,261 to procure the machine from Australia.
President of KHF Alise Matties, , credited her team’s unwavering commitment for the project's success.
"KHF believes in delivering quality health services to our communities," Matties said, adding that the group has already embarked on a new project to further enhance local healthcare.
The donation has been hailed as a challenge to other corporate stakeholders in the province. Acting CEO of the West New Britain Provincial Health Authority [WNBPHA] Dr. Joseph Nale, praised the initiative while speaking of the importance of public-private partnership.
"The PHA Act is designed to build partnerships that deliver health services together," Dr. Nale said. "The slogan ‘Health is Everyone’s Business’ must be substantiated with actions like those taken by KHF."
During the handover, both Matties and Dr. Nale took a moment to recognize the medical staff working under pressure.
