The State has formally handed over the body of the late Minister for Works and Highways and Telefomin MP, Solan Mirisim, to the people of West Sepik Province.

The casket arrived in Vanimo from Port Moresby earlier yesterday aboard a Tropic Air charter flight and was later taken to the West Sepik Provincial Assembly for members to pay their respects.

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Koni Iguan, Deputy Clerk of Parliament Basil Kambuliange, and Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso represented the State during the emotional handover ceremony.

Provincial leaders also paid tribute to the late minister, acknowledging his immense contribution to the province and the nation, describing his passing as a great loss to the people of West Sepik.

The casket was layed in state at Pope Francis Oval in Vanimo for the provincial haus krai.

It remained overnight before being airlifted to Telefomin today, where the body will be taken through all seven Local Level Government areas for public viewing ahead of the final burial.
