The Member for Kikori and Minister for Provincial and Local Level Government Affairs, Soroi Eoe, has officiated the 10th Gulf Youth for Jesus interdenominational youth convention held at Ara'ava village in the Baimuru district.

The annual week-long convention brought together youths from across Gulf Province, as well as participants from as far as Lae and Port Moresby, in a combined fellowship focused on faith, unity, and spiritual growth. The event showcased Gulf Province’s strong Christian identity and commitment to youth engagement through interdenominational cooperation.

Minister Eoe travelled to Gulf Province aboard the recently acquired landing craft, MV IBK, accompanied by a group of enthusiastic youths attending the convention. The vessel departed Roku in Port Moresby on Friday evening and arrived in Gulf waters on Saturday morning, marking its second return voyage since its maiden trip in September.

The MV IBK made its way to Orokolo Bay at midday, where it was warmly welcomed by local communities who gathered in dinghies to receive cargo and greet the vessel. The journey continued into the Pi’e River later that evening, navigating through the night toward Ara'ava village. After approximately 16 hours of travel, the vessel arrived to a jubilant reception from villagers along the riverbanks.

On Sunday morning, Minister Eoe officially opened the youth convention, sharing his personal testimony and delivering a message encouraging young people to draw closer to God and seek His Kingdom. He reminded the youths of the importance of faith and spiritual preparedness.

“God will always be with us until the end of time. That’s the promise He made,” Minister Eoe said. “You must know God because our lives are in God’s hands. You might be alive today and tomorrow you are gone, but the issue is: do you know God? Do you know the saving grace of the blood of Jesus?”

He concluded by emphasizing the significance of the youth mission and its role in shaping the spiritual foundation of future generations in the province.

The Gulf Youth for Jesus convention continues to serve as a platform for fellowship, spiritual renewal, and unity among young people across denominations and regions.
