Hela provincial health commissions state-of-the-art ICT services

The Hela Provincial Health Authority [PHA] has commissioned its new, wide-ranging Information and Communications Technology [ICT] services at the Tari Provincial Hospital last week.

This vital ICT services will enhance healthcare delivery and operational efficiency in the Hela Province.

PHA Chief Executive Officer Dr. James Kintwa says the newly implemented ICT suite is a robust, end-to-end solution designed to create a fully integrated and digitally enabled hospital environment.

The scope of services completed includes:

​Advanced Networking Infrastructure: Installation of a secure and high-speed cabling and wireless networking system across the entire hospital campus, ensuring reliable data access for all departments and clinical staff.

​Modern Telephony System: Set up of a sophisticated Private Automatic Branch Exchange (PABX) system, facilitating seamless internal and external communication among hospital staff, administration, and emergency services.

​Centralized Computing Power: Supply and configuration of a high-capacity server to host critical clinical and administrative applications, along with the provision and set-up of multiple modern workstations for all key hospital personnel.

"This new ICT Service is not merely advancement; it is a fundamental shift in how we operate. It will greatly enhance the efficiency of our work by providing our dedicated staff with the modern digital tools they need," he said.

“It will make communication easier and faster across all clinical and administrative functions, which is absolutely vital in a critical healthcare setting.

"This is a huge step forward in improving patient care and administrative management for the people of Hela Province."

​Dr. Kintwa said the completion of this project ensures that Tari Provincial Hospital is now equipped with the digital backbone necessary to support future health information systems, including electronic medical records and specialist telemedicine services.

​He acknowledged Santos Foundation for its support in ensuring work on the ICT Services progressed resulting in the successful completion and its commissioning.
