Hela Governor Philip Undialu has commended the Hela people for their commitment to conducting free, fair, and safe elections.

Speaking during a provincial assembly meeting on Thursday afternoon, Governor Undialu highlighted the transformation in the people's mindset regarding the electoral process.

“Congratulations to all ward councilors who are with their people and the LLG presidents present here today. Together, we will work to bolster law and order, enhance education and health services, and prioritize the growth of agriculture and small-to-medium enterprises [SMEs],” he affirmed.

The Governor also acknowledged all the candidates who contested the elections, especially those who accepted defeat with grace.

“You are leaders in your own right. Cooperate with your elected councilors and presidents to ensure our community's safety and engage actively in SME and agricultural initiatives,” he encouraged.

Prime Minister James Marape echoed the Governor’s sentiments, commending the Hela people for their respect for the electoral process.

“My people have proven the grumblers wrong,” he stated.
