Rosso secures K15 million for Malahang as school celebrates Grade 12 graduation

Malahang Technical Secondary School is preparing for major improvements that will benefit future students in both academic and trade pathways with help package from their local MP.

Deputy Prime Minister and Lae MP John Rosso have confirmed a K15 million infrastructure package for Malahang Technical Secondary School. This was announced during an interview with this newsroom.

Rosso said the funding secured through the Australian Incentive Program, is part of his effort to upgrade Lae’s high schools and will deliver major improvements to Malahang’s facilities.

“Malahang will now be benefiting from an infrastructure development of K15 million that I managed to secure,” Rosso confirmed.

Deputy Principal Administration for Malahang confirmed this and acknowledged the Lae MP for the assistance at the school's grade 12 graduation.

The school graduated more than 350 Grade 12 graduation this week.

The school, now enrolling more than 1,700 students, is struggling with overcrowding.

Deputy Principal Administration, Denny Nario said the high number of secondary students is affecting the trade programs.

He noted that donor partners arranged through Rosso’s office are ready to support upgrades to the vocational section once land titles are completed.

Rosso has also allocated support for a new administration building.

During the graduation, Morobe Education Division representative and former students Allister Hucfugec encouraged students to use both their academic and practical training to build their futures.
