Bird: Budget must translate

East Sepik Provincial MP Allan Bird has called for the 2026 National budget to translate to "record breaking" solutions for the people.

Bird says despite record budgets annually, there is still a lack of job creation for youths, recurring shortages in medicine supplies and funding to provincial health authorities, and constant power and water issues among others.

When debating the massive K30.9 billion money plan in Parliament, Bird challenged the government to prove that the budget for next year, was not going to be a fake one. 

He says there is a "clear pattern of failure in planning and delivery, financial engineering and a lack of transparency." 

He added the budget has several issues, which include floating debts, off-budget allocations, lack of transparency on public accounts and hidden liabilities. 

Bird slammed what he says are big budget promises by the Government, which are not delivered. 

The alleged lack of funding for the police force, for the upcoming 2027 general elections has been called out by East Sepik Provincial MP.
