Ipape impressive in Kumuls win
PNG Kumuls hooker Edwin Ipape was a standout performer in the PNG Kumuls 50-18 victory over the Fiji Bati yesterday in Port Moresby, and recieved the Man of the Match after the game.
The Leigh Leopards star scored a try, had the second highest run metres for his side, made two-line breaks and had one try assist.
Every time he held the ball and ran, he looked dangerous for his opponents, and yesterday, the Fiji Bati defence had a hard time controlling him.
Some of his highlights include scoring try. And also setting up young Cooper Bai to score his first ever try in PNG Kumuls colors.
Since his debut in 2019, Ipape has come a long way to becoming one of the marquee players for the Kumuls.
Some fans would remember 2019 when he inspired the Kumuls at the stroke of halftime with a try that ignited the Kumuls come from behind win over the Great Britain Lions.
Fast forward to present day, Edwin Ipape has evolved to become one of the top hookers in the Super League, and his Kumuls coach Jason Demetriou says if given the opportunity to play in the NRL, he would handle it well.
When giving his speech after receiving the Man of the Match, Ipape, spoke as a leader, acknowledging everyone for their support and participation.
