An investigation will be carried out into garnishee orders that saw the Bogia district, ordered by the Madang National court - through Bank South Pacific, to pay over 124-thousand-kina after a claim by a law firm in the province.

A garnishee order is when a court orders a third party to pay a debt or outstanding directly to someone, it determines is owed monies.

Justice Minister Pila Niningi gave this undertaking following questions raised by local MP, Robert Naguri.

Naguri sought this clarification over what he alleges are false claims made by this particular law firm.

He told NBC News, the Bogia District Development Authority has no records of dealings with this law firm, adding this is a serious matter which will be reported to the PNG Law Society.
