Growing concern surrounds ‘No-Name’ LLG polls
There are mounting concerns that the Election system is deteriorating as a week of polling nears.
It's largely due to the number of people being turned away at each ward site every day.
In Alotau, candidates have expressed concern about the number of elderly citizens who voted in past elections not being able to do so this time around.
Michael Kape a candidate for the Alotau Town Mayor seat had this to say;
Kape, Milne Bay's former Provincial Administrator, says it seems to be getting worse every election and, like others, urges the Government to correct this system before the National General Election approaches in 2027.
Milne Bay meantime reports smooth polling so far, results steady coming into Alotau from especially the ward counts as it is.
Provincial Election Manager Dadu Dagu reports aside from rearranging his assistant returning officers to fill in the gap of ARO Dobu LLG, who unfortunately passed away before polling, there have been no issues reported so far, with polling expected to be completed for most next week.
The count for Presidents seats will effectively begin right after.
