Three children, aged 2, 3 and 4 years old, tragically died over the weekend, shocking the public in Port Moresby.

The bodies of the three children were discovered in a car wreck two days after their disappearance was reported.

Assistant Commissioner of Police and NCD Central Commander Benjamin Turi visited the crime scene today, located behind the 9 Mile cemetery.

ACP Turi strongly believes that foul play was involved in the children's deaths and urged the community members to come forward with any information regarding how the children died in a public area, particularly one frequented by many people.

It was reported to Police last Friday by the aunty of the three children that the children went missing after she bathed them at the community’s shared water place.

Police are still trying to establish how three children were in a car wreck next to the public water place without anyone noticing their whereabouts or even heard their screams if they were locked in the car.

Initial pictures captured at the crime scene show bruises on the girl’s waist and this is pushing police to believe there is more to what the community are telling the police.

The man who found them in the car wreck is in police custody for further questioning.

According to the man, he uses the car wreck as a temporary shelter for him and on Sunday around 3am in morning, he came back to sleep there when he found the bodies of the three children and alerted the community.
