The Hela Provincial Government is keen to drive more infrastructural developments, educational pathways and socio-economic opportunities for the people, but apart from those core pillars, they want to see more young people tap into sports and make meaningful life out of it.

Hela Governor Philip Undialu made these remarks during the Brisbane Broncos NRL and NRLW Premiership trophies tour to Tari yesterday.

Governor Undialu spoke about the deeper values embedded in the sport.

"Rugby league is more than just a game, it teaches discipline, builds friendships, and fosters unity," he said.

Hela Governor says every young people have their own unique aspirations and dreams, and it is ultimately up to them to choose the path they wish to follow.

"Not everyone will excel in the classroom. Some will shine in sports, just like our very own Edwin Ipape, Larsen Marape, and others who have made us proud.

“Recognizing this potential, the provincial government took a significant step by establishing the Hela Wigmen Stadium,” he said.

Governor Undialu said that the stadium was built to inspire and empower young people who are passionate about sports, particularly rugby league.

Meanwhile, Governor Undialu also expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Brisbane Broncos for visiting the province, noting the excitement and joy it brought to the many devoted fans in attendance.

"Their [Brisbane Broncos] presence has instilled a renewed sense of confidence and hope among our youth.

"With the stadium now in place, many hidden talents will have the opportunity to emerge, and our young athletes will have a real chance to progress to higher levels of competition," he added.
