Hawks claim Kondopina league title

SEASON 2025 of the Kondopina Rugby Football League (KRFL) ended over the weekend [Saturday] with Kumai Hawks running out champions in the senior men's division.
Hawks defeated Kondo Spiders 12-6 and received a total cash prize money of K4000 while the Spiders settled for K3000.
The Kondopina RFL is a newly PNGRFL sanctioned league in the Die District of Western Highlands Province.
The League was established in 2006, but never affiliated into PNGRFL until this year it was registered with the help of the Bradley Company Lawyers under good leadership provided by Bafiune Wak.

Though, the Kondopina RFL is a newly registered league in the PNG RFL sanctioned competition, but, already displays its maturity in the games. Also complements with the good sponsorship and league officials backing up, promoting the rugby spirit with the theme; Unity through sports and Youth empowerment.
A total of 14 teams, 10 male and four female teams have registered for the competition at the beginning.
Six teams made it into the finals in Kumai Hawks and Kondo Spiders on the senior mens division, Kinspa United and Kondo Spiders on the junior side with Waghi Beach and Apsi Tea Roots in women’s division.
The grand final between Kumai Hawks and Kondo Spiders on senior division was a tough one, putting the supporters on fire with both teams under pressure. But the Hawks proves it premiership with a score margin of 12 points defeating Kondo Spiders.
The Hawks were crowned championship of the season 2025 with shield, medals and K4000 cash prize award. The spiders, also received K3000 as runner-up winner.
In the junior division grand finalist was the Kinspa United, defeating Kondo Spiders on four points. It was real championships match but the real champions; the Kinspa United was crowned premier, to walk away with shield and K2000 on the junior division. While the Spiders claim the runner-up price money of K1500 with medals.

On the women division was the Waghi Beach girls defeating Apsi Tea Roots on six points to four, a very close margin but the Beach girls launched their defence with the goal to claim the victory.
Beach girls crowned the queens of the year with K1500 price money while the Roots girls receiving K1000 as runner-up.
The championship challenge ended successfully on a high note showing maturity in participating teams and supporters.
