One Netball Train The Trainer

Netball Australia is in Port Moresby this week, continuing its partnership with the Australian Government and Netball PNG to continue its work in supporting the development and implementation of the Team Up One Netball Program.

15 Team Up coaches from Netball PNG are currently attending the "Train the Trainer" which started yesterday and will conclude tomorrow.

The One Netball program is designed to generate positive change in communities by using netball as a vehicle to address inequalities, support inclusive participation and encourage social inclusion outcomes in PNG and the Pacific.

PNG Coaches will work with facilitators from Netball Australia and Netball PNG to understand how to use the program content to create fun and interactive netball sessions, while including educational messaging which contributes to the development of participants around PNG.

CEO of Netball PNG Lynette Maha is enthusiastic about the development of the One Netball program and the collaboration between netball federations.

“Netball PNG hopes to see more Papua New Guineans playing netball – in more places, more often. Through this redesigned program, we’re incorporating sport for development by building confidence in children, supporting education, and promoting positive life values,” Maha said.

Netball Australia’s Head of Market Development Sallee Caldwell reflected on the program’s continued growth.

“The Team Up One Netball program supports communities to experience lifelong enjoyment, social inclusion and improved physical health through netball,” she said.

“This next phase of the program, co-designed by Netball Australia and Pacific Netball Federations, builds on this foundation to create inclusive opportunities and lasting impact through netball.”
