Rossel Island receives Grade 8 exam papers

After days of delay, Grade 8 examination papers finally arrived at St Mary’s Jinjo Primary School on Rossel Island just after 1pm today.
Teacher Nathan Iwaidina said he was relieved that the papers had come through Tagula Station.
He confirmed that 49 Grade 8 students at Jinjo will begin their exams at 8am on Wednesday [tomorrow].
Former Milne Bay Governor and local leader Titus Philemon, who was also at Jinjo, confirmed the arrival of the papers but criticized the delay.
He said it was unacceptable for an annual national event to be disrupted like this.
Meanwhile, it is understood that examination papers are also being distributed to the other four primary schools on Rossel Island.
The exams for more than 120 students across the island are expected to continue until Saturday this week.
