Bus drivers honor fallen colleague

Bus owners and drivers for Route 100 in Eastern Highlands Province met in Goroka. They gathered to honor a coworker who was killed in Kainantu District.
At the sad meeting, people shared tributes, asked for justice, and demanded better road safety. Many said they worry about the increasing dangers for bus workers and passengers.
McGaw Kofom Kasa, a bus owner for over ten years and a local councilor (Ward 4, Lower Bena LLG), shared his thoughts.

"This senseless act has not only devastated a family and shaken our community, but it has also exposed critical gaps in our public safety, youth engagement, and law enforcement systems," he said.
He said the young driver worked hard and helped the local transport system and economy a lot.
"His death has sparked fear, outrage, and grief among residents, and we must respond with both compassion and decisive action," he emphasized.
He said that while new projects are needed, the main goal is to restore peace, safety, and justice.
