The Public Health team from NCD Provincial Health Authority is rolling out the second phase of the Polio Campaign in the National Capital District and Motu Koita Communities.

The aim is to achieve the national target of 95% within the 15-day [October 13-October 31] polio campaign in NCD.

The first round of the vaccination capmpaign had achieved a percentage of 97%, that is equivalent to 133,000 vaccinated in the first round inside NCD alone.

In the first round of the campaign, NCDPHA achieved 97.8% with the support of the partners and NCDPHA’s management.

NCD PHA chief executive officer Dr Robbin Oge commended the efforts of volunteers, NCD PHA staff, community leaders, citizens, and partners for this achievement.

NCD Governor Powes Parkop is appealing to the residents of NCD and Motu Koita Villages to participate in the second round of the Polio Campaign to ensure every child’s health is secured.

Dr Oge said: “With the existence of Poliovirus in Papua New Guinea, it is a must that every child below the age of 10 is vaccinated and protected from polio.”

“I assure the public that the Polio Vaccine is Safe, Effective, and Free. It is our responsibility to protect our children’s health and well-being and to ensure that they grow up to be the next leaders of this country, " said Dr Oge.
