Long-serving public servants in West Sepik farewelled

The West Sepik Provincial Administration has farewelled ten [10] of its longest serving Public Servants over the weekend.

These public servants have served for almost 40 to 50 years.

The 10 retirees consisting of 9 male and female officers have been praised for the service they gave to the Country and Province, playing a part in shopping it from Independence to now 50 years.

Provincial Administrator Jacob Areman when giving his farewell remarks told the retirees that the Provincial Administration will always look up to them for advice given the experience they have from the different fields and sectors they have served for a long time.

Ten dedicated public servants have retired after decades of service to their communities. They include:

  • John Ainep served 25 years, starting at Telefomin’s LLG office and later becoming District Administrator for Aitape-Lumi.
  • Jack Sukap completed 28 years, rising from Patrol Officer to Village Court Magistrate.
  • Clarina Hennie Roinove served 41 years, advancing from Junior Typist to HR Data Officer.
  • Andrew Moimbi dedicated 42 years, moving from classroom teacher to Education Materials Officer.
  • Thaddeus Nonori completed 45 years, progressing from Clerk to LLG Manager for Bewani-Wutung Onei.
  • Steven Kambase served 46 years, from Rural Development in Sissano to District Agriculture and Livestock Officer.
  • Jack Tambala Ambasi contributed 47 years, advancing from LLG Officer to Chief Internal Auditor.
  • Joe Aflatawa also served 47 years, starting as Nuku Executive Officer and ending as LLG Manager.
  • Clement Eliape Filfi gave 50 years, rising from Education Clerk to Provincial Disaster Coordinator.
  • Simon M’ledu, the longest-serving officer, devoted 51 years, beginning as Council Executive Officer in 1974 and retiring as Director of Provincial and LLG Support Service.

They have been given certificates of service and gifts from the Provincial Administration to show their appreciation to their service.

As Provincial Administrator, Mr Areman stated these retirees have shown to the young generation of today, commitment, loyalty and the heart to serve the people of West Sepik have they have travelled the whole of West Sepik to bring Government service to people.

Mr. Areman added they have shaped the last 50 years, it is now time for the young elites of West Sepik to bring the Province and Country as a whole into the next 50 years.
