Makiba commends Magarima for colorful 50th Independence celebrations

Magarima MP and Minister for Bougainville Affairs, Manase Makiba, has praised his people for hosting a successful commemoration of Papua New Guinea’s 50th Independence Anniversary.
Celebrations across the three Local Level Governments in Magarima concluded yesterday afternoon, drawing large participation and showcasing community spirit.
Mr. Makiba said the Golden Jubilee marked not only five decades of sovereignty but also a turning point for the nation.
“As we mark 50 years of political independence and freedom, it is now incumbent upon us to cultivate genuine independence for the next fifty years and beyond,” he said.
While acknowledging the contributions of many towards nation-building, the MP also reflected on the challenges of dependency.
“At this point in our history, it is imperative that we reset our mindsets and hearts. Our aim must be to transform the next five decades for the better in every aspect of our national and individual lives,” he added.
Mr. Makiba said this vision would ensure that when PNG celebrates its centenary in 2075, the nation can look back with pride and fulfillment as a truly accomplished people.
