In a vibrant celebration of culture and unity, the Burr Festival lit up Samap Village of Turubu Local Level Government [LLG] in Wewak, as part of the 50th Independence Anniversary of Papua New Guinea.

Eight cultural groups from across Turubu came together, each showcasing their unique styles and traditional dance patterns. The festival was a display of heritage, proudly adorned in the national colours black, white, and yellow symbolizing the spirit of PNG.

With clear skies and bright sunshine, the entire community joined in the festivities. From elders to children, everyone played a part in marking this historic milestone with joy and pride.

As a gesture of appreciation, each participating sing-sing group received K400, recognizing their contribution to the success and beauty of the event.

The Burr Festival not only celebrated independence — it celebrated identity, unity, and the enduring strength of Papua New Guinea’s cultural root.
