Music industry needs recognition

The music industry in the country needs a major uplift and recognition from the government as the country enters into the next 50 years.
These are sentiments of Papua New Guinea's Female Artist Taita Maraga, who is in Vanimo, to perform on the 15th of September for the Music Festival organised by Vanimo Green District.
The famous Taita Maraga loved by her music throughout Papua New Guinea says that the upcoming artist will keep on struggling if the government keeps a blind eye on the industry.
"Music Industry itself is lacking, no support given whereas in sports there is a lot of interest and support. We live on our live performances these days, if your lucky enough to get your song on Air and get recognised than your good, otherwise it's a struggle for us who have been in the industry for a long time and those new and upcoming ones" said Taita.
Taita Maraga has been in the music industry for almost 20 years and has released close to 5 albums since releasing her first album in 2002.
When asked about her encouragement towards up and coming artist especially females who are interested becoming a music artist she said " To young female artists if you know you have that God given talent, that voice step out and do what your good at. Do not be ashamed. My challenge to female artists in the greater Sepik Region is that I want you to come out and be the best artist in the country."
Taita will be here in Vanimo to perform on the 15th of September on Monday which is the Music Festival that will be hosted by Vanimo Green District, an event leading up to the 16th of September where the country will be celebrating its 50 years of Golden Jubilee Anniversary.
