Bulolo Bicycle Riders commemorates country’s 50th Independence Jubilee Anniversary

Twenty-three youths from Bulolo town in Morobe Province led by Mr. Brucgen Boniec, a local from the town, rode the newly constructed road from Aseki to Kerema to mark the country’s 50th Independence Jubilee Anniversary.
The group rode their bicycles for six days, leaving the junction between Menyamyah and Aseki and arrived in Kerema last weekend.
According to Mr. Brucgen Boniec, the only difficulty they faced was the weather.
“The journey was about 700 to 800 kilometers into Kerema however, we faced natural challenges as heavy downpour, made the road slippery and we had to carry our bicycles and walked some parts of the road,” he said.
Mr. Boniec commended Prime Minister James Marape for the Connect PNG program that has made their journey possible.
He said the youths are still looking forward to completing their journey after two to three days of rest in Kerema.
“We will be fully satisfied when we reach Port Moresby as that is the destination of this travel,” Mr. Boniec stated.
