Speeding kills, and so does drink driving.

Madang’s top cop, Acting Superintendent Robert Baim, resounded this warning following a nasty road accident along the south coast of Madang yesterday afternoon.

The incident occurred some 20 kilometres outside town.

The incident involving a brown five- door vehicle left one man dead.

Four other occupants of the vehicle were unhurt.

The deceased person has been identified as 40- year- old Leani Pauli from Kupali Village in Enga Province.

The accident occurred as the driver was attempting to overtake another vehicle but lost control and swerved off the road.

Baim described the crash as a 'sad reminder of the dangers of drink-driving and unnecessary speeding.''

With the LLG election and Usino/ Bundi by- election still in progress, Superintendent Baim reminds all drivers to avoid overloading.

"Don’t drink and drive, and avoid overloading vehicles,” he said.
