The Melanesian Spearhead Group [MSG] Sports Minister's meeting ended on a high note in Suva, Fiji, with the agreement for PNG to host the 4th Edition of the Prime Minister's Cup Football Tournament.

PNG will host the 4th Edition for men and the 1st Edition for women from 10 - 22 November in Port Moresby.

The successful MSG sports Ministers meeting follows the sports senior officials meeting.

The PNG Sports Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Micah James, attended and prepared the agendas ahead of the MSG Sports Minister's meeting.

Minister Assisting the Prime Minister in Sports, Sam Basil Junior, signed the Host Agreement, witnessed by sports ministers, senior officials, and members of the MSG Sports Committee in Suva on Friday.

Dates sanctioned are endorsed under the FIFA Window of Opportunities through OFC as a tier one ranking competition.

Minister Basil is confident that with all the support given by the MSG member nations, PNG's way forward plan to facilitate the hosting plans starts immediately.

Minister Basil told his fellow MSG Sports Ministers that PNG stands ready to host the tournament, and he looks forward to ensuring that the Local Organizing Committee is given the mandate to formalize plans with key stakeholders and service providers to prepare for the tournament.

Basil emphasized that sports strengthen the bond, and the Melanesian spirit shared amongst the four member states of PNG, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, and FLNKS.

Minister Basil thanked and acknowledged his MSG counterparts and officials for supporting the signing of the Host Agreement.
