Leaders gather to bid farewell to Sir J

Prime Minister James Marape, his wife and son arrived via helicopter at around 9am this morning for the final program of the late Sir Julius Chan at his manmantinut, Huris home.

About 90 members of Parliament, ministers and members including Governors have converged in Huris to pay their last respects to the last of the country's founding fathers.

PM Marape and his family were welcomed by Sir Julius son, Mark.

PM Marape, his wife Rachel and son paid respects to Sir Julius, and lady Stella.

Long time friend and former Western Highlands Governor Paias Wingti, former Foreign Affairs Minister Rimbink Pato, were also on hand to pay their respects.

Former Madang Governor Peter Yama arrived yesterday.

International Trade and Investment Richard Maru, Culture and Tourism Minister Belden Namah, West Sepik Governor Tony Wouwou arrived this morning among others.

Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso, ICT Minister Timothy Masiu, Police Minister Peter Tsiamalili Jnr, Defence Minister Dr. Billy Joseph, Health Minister Elias Kapavore, North Bougainville MP Francesca Semoso and other ministers were also present.

The New Guinea islands leaders arrived yesterday among them is West New Britain Governor Sasindran Muthuvel, East Sepik Governor Allan Bird including Opposition Leader Douglas Tomuriesa and his Deputy James Nomane were also at Huris.

A dedication and funeral service was held for the last time for late Sir Julius Chan.
