Basketball Federation PNG to miss out on IBA U15 Oceania Cup in Gold Coast

Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea [BFPNG] will not be participating in the coming FIBA U15 Oceania Cup in Gold Coast on November 11-16, 2024.

BFPNG made this decision due to the challenges faced in meeting the key deadlines for the team and player eligibility.

The BFPNG President David Peter reiterated the importance of PNG’s participation in future international events and his unwavering commitment to improve PNG’s rankings in international tournaments.

He believes that improving PNG’s ranking will create a good opportunity to showcase our players.

BFPNG is taking strategic steps towards growing basketball and improving its competitiveness by going into rural areas, sharing their exceptional coaching techniques, developing plans around semi-professional competition and creating player development pathways.
