PNG international Nixon Putt is set to depart Castleford Tigers (Tigers)

PNG Kumuls forward Nixon Putt may possibly depart Castleford Tigers at the end of the Super League season according to speculations in the United Kingdom.

Castleford Tigers boss Craig Lingard has clarified the position of the club’s forward following speculation he may leave the club despite his two-year contract requiring him to stay until next year.

The former Hunters prop is in the first year of contract with the Tigers following his arrival at the club at the beginning of the season.

According to reports from Yorkshire Live, there have been some suggestions Putt may leave the club at the end of the 2024 Super League playing roster, which have coincided with his partner returning home ahead of the birth of their second child.

The PNG international has made six appearances for Tigers this year whilst also spending time with the club's dual-registration partners, Batley Bulldogs.

The Tigers coach addressed the media this week, speaking on Putt’s future, which possibly could see him part ways with the club.

"I think he will be going home regardless because his missus has gone back home already. She's due to give birth, so she went home two or three weeks back, so he's definitely going home,” Lingard told UK media.

"He's contracted to us for next year, if he wants to stay at home or doesn't want to come back, we'll have that conversation with Nixon, but at this moment in time he's contracted to us for next season, and we'll take that situation day by day and week by week."
