POMCA thrilled for a big year as the preseason kicks off

The Port Moresby Cricket Association is expecting an exciting roster as the competition sets mark to kick off the 2024 calendar.
The premier cricket association started it's preseason with a mixed T10 competition, which has been played over the past two weeks.
The short format is purposely aimed to get all players prepared for the proper season that is panned to commence before the end of this month.
POMCA president Dean Ani told NBC News that the preseason games were supported by Nambawan Medical Centre with a sponsorship of K5,000.
Ani, acknowledged NMC for their swift and positive response to the sponsorship request and said the assistance would motivate clubs and players for an exciting season ahead.
"The financial sponsorship from NMC is timely and greatly appreciated. This support brings a wave of motivation and encouragement to the participating clubs who have dedicated their time to this competition," Ani stated.
"We need more 'Friends of POMCA' like Nambawan Medical Centre to help us nurture young and talented junior boys and girls, paving the way for future Siales, Garamuts, Baramundis, and Lewas players."
The competition, which commenced two weekends ago, featured eight teams divided into two pools.
Pool 1 includes Raukele, Wanderers, Konepoti, and Imanakone, while Pool 2 comprises Hoods, Moukele, Kempa, and the newly added team from Fisherman Island.
The opening weekend delivered some thrilling cricket action, setting the stage for an exciting tournament. Raukele emerged victorious against Imanakone, winning by 30 runs, while Wanderers secured a comfortable win over Konepoti by 8 wickets. Kempa also clinched a victory, defeating Moukele by 7 wickets. Additionally, several matches were won by forfeit, notably involving Pari CC, Hoods CC, and Kempa CC.
