Racquet sports collect junior male and female athletes of the year Sports Awards

After coaching Team Boxing to the 2023 Pacific Games winning 8 gold medals, Coach Mark Keto was recognized for his efforts and won the official of the year award (SP Sports Awards Committee)

The 32nd SP Sports Awards concluded last night with the winners announced.

The event also saw a tribute ceremony to the outgoing PNG Olympic Committee President Sir John Dawanincura who is ill and did not attend the awards ceremony night.

The winners of the main category of the awards night yesterday were as follows:

Male athlete of the year, Daniel Baul from athletics, female athlete of the year Dika Toua from weightlifting, team of the year PNG Barramundis and National Performance of the Year went to Kimbe Pirates.

In the other categories, Sugar Ray Hakena won the Junior male athlete of the year and Timonaliz Alarcos won the female athlete of the year award.

Giving an inspirational speech as well at the awards night was retired Australian swimmer Liesel Jones who congratulated all winners for their achievements.
