Monagi to represent PNG at World Athletics Indoor Championships

Sprint hurdler Adrine Monagi will represent PNG at the World Athletics Indoor Championships that will be held in Glasgow, UK from March 1 to 3.
Monagi, who has experience running indoors during her US Collegiate career from 2014 to 2017 will run the 60m hurdles event.
She is currently based in Gold Coast where she is training under a Scholarship Programme facilitated through a three-way partnership between the Oceania Foundation, Griffith University and Oceania Athletics.
Monagi has been in consistent form this year in the 100m hurdles and is aiming to improve further this season and make a strong showing at the Oceania Championships in Suva early June.
She will travel to Glasgow with a number of other Pacific Islanders, with Oceania athletics performance manager Alison Fairweather on hand to provide any assistance that the athletes may require.
It will be Monagi’s second world championships, having attended the 2019 outdoor championships in Doha.
Monagi was awarded the scholarship in 2023 in Bachelor of Business. A decorated athlete, she has represented PNG internationally since 2014 in Pacific Games, Commonwealth Games and World Championships.
Her blistering career started in heptathlete but ultimately changed course to sprints/hurdles.
The current Pacific Mini Games 100m Hurdles Champion is eager to improve her form as she takes on the indoor championships next month.
She looks forward to continued improvement and being truly competitive internationally. She has dreamed of a 3-year stable training environment.
